Acadia National Park, Maine

The iconic granite boulders of Boulder Beach catch the glow of moonlight in Acadia National Park. The arching coastline below is echoed by the arching cloud formation above to create a near elliptical-shaped frame for the moon as it drops solemnly into the Atlantic. The wild and romantic Acadia we know today was preserved, not as a grand government program, but thanks to a passionate group of citizens who took it upon themselves to make preserving the land a priority. What started as the vision of a few became the adopted cause of many and today generations have come to enjoy their efforts in what became the first National Park in the eastern United States.
