Brook Trout
The Impression Series™, Headwaters Series | Headwaters of the Pigeon River
Captured in one of the highest elevation tributaries of the Pigeon River, this ancient stream finds its headwaters at over 5,000ft in elevation and is littered with beautiful yellow and golden stones. The only native species of trout in these waters, the Brook Trout, are perfectly camouflaged to these stones. Camouflage is one of time and nature’s great adaptations and is incredibly fascinating to me. So even though there are no trout in this image, I thought it only fitting to title this image after the fish that uses these stones to such a stealthy effect in the highlands of Appalachia.
