Autumn Grove
Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada
An isolated grove of Aspen appear to glow among the storm-ladened mountain peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Aspen groves are actually a single organism — the largest grove spans a mind-blowing 106 acres and contains more than 47,000 individual trunks. This is a relatively modest grove by comparison, but it’s smaller size allows the viewer to appreciate the entire grove at once and conceptualize how the single organism expands outward by sprouting up new trucks from its perimeter.
